If you ask me, the best part of the Fourth of July isn’t the fireworks. It’s the food.
There’s just something about gathering outside with family and friends, firing up the grill, and filling your plate with all your favorite cookout dishes. While burgers, hot dogs, and bbq chicken are practically a requirement at any cookout, they’re definitely not the only thing I’m looking forward to.
If I were hosting this year, these are the 4th of July cookout recipes I’d be serving. They’re the recipes my family would expect to see on the table and the ones I’d happily make year after year. From cheesy comfort food and smoky barbecue to fresh summer sides and a refreshing drink, this menu has everything you need for an unforgettable Fourth of July celebration.

Juicy Oven-Baked Spare Ribs
These Juicy Oven-Baked Spare Ribs will have everyone licking their fingers (and I mean this literally!) They’re juicy, flavorful, and the perfect finger food for your 4th of July cookout.

Southern Baked Mac and Cheese
Every good cookout needs a pan of baked mac and cheese. This Southern baked mac and cheese is rich, creamy, and topped with that irresistible golden, cheesy crust. My family empties out the pan before the burgers even hit the grill! For me, it’s one of those 4th of July cookout recipes that simply isn’t optional.

BBQ Baked Beans
Is it even a summer cookout if you don’t have BBQ Baked Beans? These beans are one of my absolute favorite summer side dishes and is the perfect compliment to everything you throw on the grill this 4th of July!

Homemade Southern Potato Salad
f you’ve been around Ne’s Kitchen for a while, you already know how much I love a good potato salad. This homemade Southern potato salad is creamy, flavorful, and exactly what I want next to a plate of barbecue. It reminds me of family cookouts growing up, and somehow it always tastes even better the next day. No list of 4th of July cookout recipes would feel complete without it.

Zesty Feta Pasta Salad
Every backyard barbecue needs something fresh to balance out all the rich comfort food. This zesty feta pasta salad is loaded with crisp vegetables, tossed in a flavorful dressing, and finished with crumbled feta cheese. It’s colorful, refreshing, and even better after it’s had a chance to chill in the refrigerator. It’s one of my favorite make-ahead recipes because the flavors only get better with time.

Grilled Garlic Butter Elote
Corn on the cob is already one of summer’s best side dishes, but brushing it with garlic butter takes it to another level. It’s simple to make, packed with flavor, and pairs perfectly with just about everything else on your plate.Â

Watermelon Iced Tea
After spending the day outside in the summer heat, an ice-cold drink is a must. This watermelon iced tea is fruity, refreshing, and the perfect way to cool down after a day of grilling. It’s a fun twist on classic sweet tea and ties this entire cookout menu together.
Happy Fourth of July!
